The more I read the more confused I become. Such a tangled web of releases.

Thanks for your continuing efforts and information Coquille, it is much appreciated.

A little footnote to that Cradle Saloon reissue... Rallizes' special guest at this show (Nov 1, 1978) was an early line-up of J-punk heroes Friction. The Friction set from this gig has just been released, in the requisite dodgy fidelity. It's an interesting set for anyone interested in this period of Japanese rock, particularly since it contains a couple of never-otherwise-recorded original songs and a Stooges cover...

Unfortunately for the moment it's only available as part of a lavish and expensive set that comes with two (!) separate books of photographs.

Does it say anything of Rallizes's actual line-up that night - they'd cultivated a different sound and

I just ignore all the CD-Rs and anything that costs over $25 and suddenly Rallizes accumulation becomes an easy task (and download everything else wherever I find it)

That's my practical real-life policy. The easily available and relatively cheap CDs are all I actually own (and I've not even picked up Live 1972 yet, worried as I am about the sheer dodginess of the fidelity), but I still wish I could have the whole mess clearer in my head.

Yes.... what's the prospective value of CDs anyway? Especially with Univive's overpriced lot!
'Live 1972' we quite liked, as did the original 'Great White Wonder' but there's tape flip hijinks and murk aplenty!
Pretty much all the CD-R (UNIVIVE-001~008) stuff is to be found in one form or another on CD now.
'Mars Studio' and 'Cradle Saloon'(2008)  are closest to previously being unreleased and have the best sound. Excellent sound is to be found on 'Double Heads' (014) too.  The last two seem to be the most widely praised (?).... As for 'Wild Trips' (009) and ' Volcanic Performance' (017) we don't have but not completely bowled over on occassion we heard them....
